Perhaps Kobe Sizzlers is the only Restaurant in Kolkata which devotes to serving only Sizzlers apart from sandwiches and a few starters. Situated in the heart of City Center Salt Lake, Kobe Sizzlers is the true flavor of the very contemporary European grills and steaks. They have been the oldest Sizzler restaurant chain in India since it opened its door in Mumbai in 1975. They now have over 19 outlets in not only cities of India but abroad as well. Thick wooden tables, jute stringed chairs and modern abstract paintings on the wall make the décor. Interesting pieces of intricate wooden artwork separate each table from one another. There are cushioned long low benches on one side which maybe a bit uncomfortable for those requiring a back rest. The ambiance is pretty sophisticated.

Grilled Chicken & Sausage in Pepper Sauce

As we were going through the arrays of various sizzlers in the menu card (provided below) we decided to choose one from World cuisine and one from Asian Cuisine.

We ordered Grilled Chicken and Sausage with pepper sauce from World Cuisine sizzlers. One piece of grilled chicken steak on top of that two grilled sausages coated with pepper sauce was tasted like typical barbecued chicken. The pepper sauce was mixed with other spices so I didn't get much of the peppery taste but overall it was quite delicious. It was served on a sizzler plate along with French fries on the side and also with boiled peas, carrot and French beans and one slice of half poached tomato! Along with this we also ordered a Hokkaido Chicken Sizzler (Asian Cuisine) which was more of Asian flavors like the chicken steak was grilled then it was marinated with different kind of sauce which is mainly used in Asian cuisine like red chili sauce, soya sauce and Worcestershire sauce and other spices too which mix perfectly on your pallet. Then meat was perfectly cooked and tender. It was quite a good dish.

From the dessert section, there is not much option; you can choose Sizzling Brownie with Ice-cream or Caramel Custard. The brownie comes real hot with boiling chocolate sauce spread over it which blends in perfectly with the super cool vanilla scoop. It melts in your mouth giving a chocolaty sensation. The restaurant staff is courteous and makes good suggestions for choosing proper dishes to those who are not well acquainted with different types of sizzlers. However considering the quantity of the dishes, the prices are a bit too high and would certainly burn a hole in your pocket. The cost of a meal for two persons is approximately Rs. 1500 (inclusive of taxes). The food quality is inconsistent and they need to maintain it in order to keep up.
