After its first Salt Lake outlet near College More Sector 5, Azad Hind Dhaba has come up with a new branch at Globsyn Crystals building, Salt Lake Sector V. It’s a quite massive outlet spanned in 2 levels having capacity to accommodate 78 persons. Always crowded with regular office a goer of this area, this popular Punjabi Dhaba serves you till midnight (Till 3 a.m. at night during festive seasons of Durga Puja, Diwali & Christmas. This particular outlet is decorated after Bengal and Punjab rural arts (terracotta patachitra on the mud walls), with big chakras (painted cartwheels) and dim lights of Terracotta Lamps hanging from the bamboo rafters. The air conditioned restaurant makes you feel seated in a normal roadside dhaba by its amazing clay wall decoration and terracotta art work.

Earlier they used to have an elaborate menu for both traditional Indian and Chinese cuisines and had a roll & dessert counter outside their main restaurant. Indian hits are Chicken and Mutton Biriyani which is a bit spicy than usual, Kadai Chicken, Chicken Seekh Kebab, Mutton Burrah Kebab, Paneer Do Pyaza, Fish Tikka Masala, Mutton Do Pyaza and other mutton and chicken preparations.. However now among Chinese items you don’t have many choices left other than regular Chili Chicken, Manchurian chicken, Hakka noodles etc. Hot Jalebi, Gulab Jamun, Keshar Kulfi & others are popular desserts served here.

Recently I have visited this outlet and found some changes to the menu. They no longer serve any Chinese cuisines. And Indian options have also decreased. We had Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala, Kadai Chicken and Chicken Do Piaza with Plain Naan, fresh Lime Soda, and Masala Cold Drinks. Keshar kulfi and jalebis are very popular desserts here. Jalebis cost Rs. 12 for a pair. Chicken Roll and Paneer Roll cost around Rs. 35 each. They also have options like Kachori, Dahi Vada, Chaat & other snacks in the outer counter. The normal lunch hours starts from 12:30 and goes till 3 pm. It costs around Rs. 450 for two for a complete meal here. It’s recommended to visit this place during rush hours because the service after that is a bit slow and it might take even an hour to get your food served!!
