The renowned Aminia of New Market (Esplanade) now has a branch in South Kolkata - Aminia South, near Golpark. In fact, it had opened several years back, but was closed due to some problem. It re-opened in 2012 and South Kolkata citizens can now get a taste of everyone’s favourite Aminia special foods like Mutton Biriyani, Rezala, Pasinda Kabab, Chicken Chap, Tandoori Roti and Firni.

There is a waiting area on the ground floor if the restaurant is already packed with people. A nice winding staircase leads you to the first & second floors which have the actual dining halls. With old polished mirrors, antique lights and paintings on the walls, the building looks like an aristocratic royal house of ancient Calcutta from inside. Comfy low couches & cushioned metallic chairs with fine wooden tables are laid in the white painted dining rooms. The glass panes give a view of the busy streets below.

You will be happy to find out that the food tastes the same as in the Original Aminia of New Market. The menu prices are about a negligible 10% higher than the Original Aminia, however, the ambience & interior decor of Aminia South is much better than the Original Aminia. The number of menu items (provided below) in the Non-Veg & Veg Tandoori / Kebab sections and Curry / Gravy dishes has been increased. The Pasinda will melt in your mouth and has a smokey flavor. Like the classic biriyani of Original Aminia, the biriyani served here is light & fluffy and the meat present in it is well-cooked.
