Situated just beside China Garden & opposite to Beijing, this Bar cum Chinese Restaurant is yet another eatery in Chinatown (Tangra) that offers authentic Chinese cuisine & drinks at very reasonable and inexpensive prices. Golden Empire has 2 doors at the main entrance from the road, one leading to the ground floor bar area frequented mostly by office workers or a friends group and the other leading to the above 2 floors each having air-conditioned dining spaces designed for family grouping. The decor is pretty interesting with Chinese artwork on the walls and some Oriental showpieces.

Simple wooden chairs & tables are laid out covered in red linen cloths. For a group of 15 – 20 persons, sometimes they allocate a private space for a small lunch / dinner party. That private space is a small chamber having a huge dining table at the centre and another table for keeping food / drinks. They also provide a CD player where dance songs or soft music can be played in the background. This area can also be used as a Conference room.

Finger Chips

Like all other Chinese eateries in Tangra area, this restaurant also offers bottle system for alcohol consumption. In their menu, you could actually get all drinks as peg (60 ml) or as bottle of quarter (180 ml), Half (375 ml), Full (750 ml) or as 1 Litre. Premium Indian Whiskeys like Blender’s Pride 1 Litre comes as cheap as Rs. 1100, whereas its Half is Rs. 600. All other whiskeys like Signature & Antiquity Blue are also available other than Foreign Liquor. Beer costs around Rs. 120.

Crispy Chicken Pakora

From the food menu, order the Prawn Jasini Bagda, Crab with Body in your choice of sauce, Crispy Chicken Pakora (Rs. 110), Finger Chips (Rs. 90) for starters. For the main course, you could try Empire Special Bagda Prawn, Lamb in Hot Garlic Sauce, Pattaya Chicken, American Chop Suey and Mixed Hakka Chowmein. There’s not much choices for desserts but you could get different flavours of ice-creams. A complete meal for two persons (without alcohol) will cost approximately Rs. 400. If you are Chinese food lover, you will not regret visiting this place!
