Krystal Chopstick, located
in Hindustan Park (just off the
bustling Gariahat Market) is extremely
popular in South Kolkata for its Chinese and Thai food. Its interiors
are pretty much interesting with red and white being the wall color. It’s
decorated with different kind of Buddha’s masks and paintings. It has cushioned
iron chairs and glass tables laid inside. The place is dimly lit to give cozy
kind of ambience. It’s one of the oldest Chinese
restaurants in South Kolkata which
is visited by some of the most famous names in city.
As of for the food, you can try different
starters like Momo, Wantons, Spring
Rolls, Dry Chilli Chicken. There are different kinds of pot boilers are also available in their
menu like sweet corn soup, chicken
asparagus soup and so on. They also serve Chinese Sizzlers. We ordered chicken Chinese sizzlers and it turned
out to be very delectable.

For the main course you can choose from their
variety range of noodles, rice and different side dishes. To name a few good
ones, you can try Chicken Wings with
Garlic Sauce, Tempura Prawn, Red Pepper Squid, Brown Glazed Duck, Red Pepper
Chicken with Shanghai Rice, Lasha Crab, and Thai Noodles with Thai Chicken in
Red or Green Curry. Most popular items on the Menu (provided below) list are Chicken
Wantons, Lemon Chicken, Tom Chicken, Crispy Lamb and Chilli Garlic Fried Rice.
Their staffs serving at the tables are very efficient when it comes to take an
order though it lacks a bit in service and you might have to wait for a while
for the food to be served.

The prices are at a moderate level. The cost of a complete meal for two persons
is approximately Rs 700 (Without Taxes).
However, during the peak hours and festive season, long waiting times
are common and a spoiler with the waiting line queue stretching all the way
outside and on the road. The cooking standards have been degraded over the
years. The overall experience being average, I would recommend that this food
joint is worth a visit only for a few of its delicious Chinese food items.
