Ta'aam (meaning
‘food’ in Arabic) is the city's newest addition to the Mughal-Frontier cuisine (North
Indian Cuisine) segment. This restaurant,
situated within the same building of Priya
Cinema Hall beside the ticket counter, has the impressive ambience of the
Mughal era. Its brightly lit, very nicely and neatly decorated with Jhoomars
and tall mirrors. One of the walls is fully decked with Persian clay plates.
This restaurant has the welcoming feel to it with the perfect blend of music. The
restaurant has classy interiors with a huge space which can accommodate 75
persons at a time. As we were seated at a sofa the server moved away after
filling up our water glasses and giving us the menu cards. A small bar counter
at the far end, now serves only a variety of mocktails on the cards, till they
get a bar license.

We ordered basic Tandoori Machli (Fish Tikka) for starters and we looked slightly
apprehensively at it as the waiter served us, but then, took a bite of the
seemingly small portion it turned out to be amazingly moist and tasty. They
served food in succession and very efficiently.

After we were done with the starters, we ordered
the main course that is Mutton
Roganjosh, Chicken Do Paiza and
Butter Naan. Mutton pieces were so juicy and succulent full of flavours and
the meat was falling off the bone so easily. Even the chicken dish was excellent.
The Double Mutton Biryani comes with
extra potato and eggs, and two pieces of mutton and is delightfully light and
dry (very less oil). Kabuli Naan, Mutton
Pasinda, Vegetable Jhal Frezi, Chicken Bharta & Brain Masala are popular orders. All over the food was very tasty
but less in quantity as there were only 3 big pieces of meat in Mutton
Roganjosh. I polished off the last of the food, scraped it out of the platter,
and used my fingers to polish off the last bits of meat from the bones. Their
specialties are Mutton Mussalam and Tengri Kebab: both are served only for
advance order. Don’t forget to finish off your meal with a smooth Firni for desserts. Apart from the Indian / Mughlai dishes, Ta’aam has a variety of items from Chinese cuisine too (Menu provided below). Though the place
has few drawbacks like when we were ordering the food our server did tell us
that there were a many things on the menu that were not available. All over
service was immaculate. The bill for two
persons will be around Rs 800.
